Askins and Dittmer named as NAIA Women’s Basketball Scholar Athletes

Kansas Wesleyan Women’s Basketball players Madison Askins and Kaylaen Dittmer join over 220 other NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball players that were named as NAIA-Daktronics Scholar Athletes for the 2007-08 season.
Askins, a junior from Parkville, Mo., who is majoring in Sports Management and Accounting, averaged 1.76 points and 1.24 rebounds per game this season for the Coyotes.
Dittmer, a junior Biology major from Tribune, Kan., averaged 9.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game for the Coyotes, who finished the season with a 12-17 record.
In order to be a recipient of the NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete award, one must fulfill these requirements: the recipient must be a junior or above in academic standing; has been in attendance at the nominating institution a minimum of one full year of attendance; has a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale) at the time of nomination at the nominating institution; has been certified as eligible.
The Kansas Conference was well represented on the list with 30 student-athletes being named as Scholar-Athletes.
The NAIA Scholar Athlete program, sponsored yearly by Daktronics, honors student-athletes who excel not only in their respective sport, but also in the classroom.
