Kansas Wesleyan Women’s Basketball players Madison Askins and Kaylaen Dittmer join over 220 other NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball players that were named as NAIA-Daktronics Scholar Athletes for the 2007-08 season.

Askins, a junior from Parkville, Mo., who is majoring in Sports Management and Accounting, averaged 1.76 points and 1.24 rebounds per game this season for the Coyotes.

Dittmer, a junior Biology major from Tribune, Kan., averaged 9.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game for the Coyotes, who finished the season with a 12-17 record.

In order to be a recipient of the NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete award, one must fulfill these requirements: the recipient must be a junior or above in academic standing; has been in attendance at the nominating institution a minimum of one full year of attendance; has a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 (on a 4.0 scale) at the time of nomination at the nominating institution; has been certified as eligible.

The Kansas Conference was well represented on the list with 30 student-athletes being named as Scholar-Athletes.

The NAIA Scholar Athlete program, sponsored yearly by Daktronics, honors student-athletes who excel not only in their respective sport, but also in the classroom.
