“Most of us are so busy doing what we think we have to do, that we do not think about what we really want to do. Eliminate the “have to’s” from your life, and replace them with “want to’s,” “choose to’s” and “I’ve decided to’s. ” – Author Unknown
Career Services at Kansas Wesleyan University is dedicated to helping students with choices that will aid in finding the right career fit for each individual.
If you’ve ever asked yourself one or all of these questions, it’s okay, everyone has at one point or another in their lives. The Office of Career Services at Kansas Wesleyan University is dedicated to providing comprehensive, quality career development services and securing resources necessary to help students make informed decisions about career options. Making career and life decisions starts long before you earn your degree and our staff is ready to assist you with a full range of services.
Career Counseling and Exploration
Individual career counseling is available to students by appointment. A counselor can assist you in choosing a career path, deciding a major, and exploring career options. Current reference tools for exploring careers, researching occupations and graduate/professional schools, writing resumes and cover letters, and preparing for interviews are available for in-office use.
Focus 2 is a new online, self-guided, interactive program designed to help you select the right college major and plan your career based on your personal interests, values, skills, personality, and aspirations. Students who use Focus 2 make better decisions about their goals and plans and learn how to self-manage their careers.
The Office of Career Services houses all teacher credential files. In order to have credentials sent to a potential employer you must have a complete file (3-letters of reference, transcript, and copy of teaching license) and a signed consent of release on file with our office.
Part-time and full-time jobs are updated on a regular basis and posted both online and on the employment bulletin board located in the lower hallway of Pioneer Hall. Postings include current local, state, regional, and national employment opportunities, part time, full time, teaching, internships, and summer opportunities.
Several opportunities will be available during the year for students to work with business people from the Salina area to practice interview skills, receive helpful advice and opportunities to ask questions students may have concerning the interview process.
