Spring
2005 Baccalaureate Service
The Baccalaureate service will be
at 10:45 a.m. on
Saturday, May 14, 2005, at the University United Methodist Church.
The church is across the street from KWU’s Memorial Library
on the corner of Santa Fe Avenue and Claflin Avenue.
Candidates, faculty, administration,
and trustees should meet in the second floor hallway of Pioneer
Hall by 10:15 a.m.
for robing and formation of the lines of march. Candidates, faculty,
trustees, and administration will march from Pioneer Hall to the
church. Please follow the marching order printed and distributed
at rehearsal. At Baccalaureate, you will not have a “numbered”
seat, but will simply be seated (in order) in the pew. The candidates
will march in first and remain standing at their seats. The marshals
then will lead in the trustees, faculty, administration, and platform
party.
What
Is Baccalaureate?
Baccalaureate is a service of worship for
the graduating class, their families, faculty, administration,
staff, and friends. It is a traditional time of seeking the presence
and power of God at a unique moment in the graduates’ and
institutional life. The President of the University will prepare
and deliver the sermon to the graduates.
The term “baccalaureate” also
is the name of the degree colleges and universities confer as
a bachelor’s degree. Sometimes a degree is referenced as
being at the “baccalaureate” level. |
