History Education Major (Grade 6–12) Requirements

43 Credit Hours

In addition to the Core Requirements, the Liberal Studies Requirements, and the Professional Education Requirements, students must complete the following courses:

HIST 105 World Civilizations I – 3 credit hours

HIST 106 World Civilizations II – 3 credit hours

HIST 130 World Geography – 3 credit hours

HIST 220 American History I – 3 credit hours

HIST 221 American History II – 3 credit hours

HIST 280 Research Methods in History – 3 credit hours

HIST 350 Making History: Great Events and Turning Points That Influenced the World – 3 credit hours

HIST 410 History of Kansas and the Great Plains – 3 credit hours

HIST 460 Internship – 1 credit hour

HIST 499 Senior Thesis – 3 credit hours

Two (2) 300 or 400 level History Electives; one (1) U.S. topic and one (1) non-U.S. topic (to be chosen in consultation with your History advisor) – 6 credit hours

ECON 205 Principles of Macroeconomics – 3 credit hours

POLI 310 U.S. Constitution and Government – 3 credit hours

ED 440 Methods for Teaching Social Science (ACCK) – 3 credit hours
