Memorial Library is located at 100 E. Claflin Avenue across
the street (south) from University United Methodist Church.

are the Library’s hours?
Memorial Library is open during the academic year:
Monday – Thursday 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM
Friday – 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Saturday – 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Sunday – 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Our summer hours are:
Monday – Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
When
is a Reference librarian available to help me?
Memorial Library staffs two professional Librarians to assist you
with reference questions. Generally the library is staffed by a professional
librarian between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Mondays -Friday.
How
do I access the KWU databases off campus?
Kansas Wesleyan University is dedicated to providing access to databases
to all students, regardless of where they are located. Therefore,
Memorial Library has installed the EZProxy software. To access the
databases, provide your KWU email account information when prompted.
If you do not have a KWU email account, click
here to send the IS department a request for an account. Access
is limited to current students only.
Does
the Library charge fines for overdue materials?
The library does not charge fines for overdue materials unless the
materials have been borrowed from another library. The charge for
overdue Interlibrary Loan materials is $1 per book per day. If an
item is permanently lost, a charge of $50 per book ($75 for videotapes)
is assessed to the student’s account. Transcripts will not be
sent and students cannot enroll in classes until all financial obligations
to the university have been met.
Can
I borrow a book from another library?
Yes. There is no cost to receive an article or a book from another
library. However, if the materials are returned to Memorial Library
after the due date, a fine may be assessed.
I’m
not a student at KWU, but I’d like to check out books. Can I
get a library card?
All community members are welcome at Kansas Wesleyan University. You
will need a valid driver’s license to set up a library account.
Can
I access the Internet in the library?
Yes, Internet access is available from Memorial Library. Please remember
Memorial Library does not allow pornography to be viewed or pornographic
material to be printed in the library. For more information on KWU’s
policy regarding Pornography, please consult the Student
Handbook.

there any Internet restrictions at KWU?
Pornography or pornographic materials are not allowed. Please consult
the Student Handbook for

Are
food or drinks allowed in the library?
Drinks are allowed in the library. Please do not bring food into the
library.
How
can I access the library’s card catalog?
The library’s card catalog can be accessed in two ways. Access
is available on the desktop of the computers in the library or over
the Internet from the library’s homepage at KWU’s Online
Catalog. Click here to access the online
catalog.
Does
the library have a copy machine?
Memorial library does have a copy machine. Copies are $0.05 each.
Staff members are available to assist you with your copying needs.
Does
the library have a printer?
Memorial Library does have a laser printer. It is located on the first
floor of the library. Printing is free to all KWU students. Community
users are asked to limited printing to 10 pages.
Does
the library have quiet study areas available to students?
The second floor of Memorial Library has two quiet study areas. One
study area contains a TV/VCR and seats 1-4 people. The second study
area can seat a group of 10.
What
additional resources are available for the campus community?
Memorial Library has a color printer in the Curriculum center, two
scanners, and we participate in the rotating book collection. The
rotating book collection is a program that delivers fiction, best
sellers, and children books to libraries that chose not to purchase
these items.
Does
the library own videos or CDs?
Memorial Library has an extensive collection of Videos for a library
its size. All users can check out Audio/Visual material with a valid
KWU library card.
My
professor placed an item on reserve. Can I check out this item?
Most items can be checked out from 2 hours to 2 weeks; however, this
varies according to the request of the faculty member. If an item
cannot be checked out, photocopies can be made at $0.05 per page.
To protect the author(s) and publisher from copyright violations,
Memorial Library will not make more than one copy of any item for
the same individual.
