Lindsay Modin began teaching at Kansas Wesleyan in 2007.  A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, she earned her Master of Music from Kansas State University (2009) and her Bachelor in Music Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2003) where she studied with Dr. William McMullen.  Prior to this, Modin studied music performance at the University of Iowa (1998-2000) with Mark Weiger.  Modin currently plays principal oboe with the Salina Symphony, where she serves as the Musicians’ Representative on the Symphony Board, and is a member of the Salina Symphony Woodwind Quintet.  

Modin has performed in numerous ensembles, both professional and amateur, including the Hastings Symphony Orchestra (NE), Lincoln Symphony Orchestra (NE), Third Chair Chamber Players (NE), Lincoln Municipal Band (NE), Quintessenz Woodwind Quintet (NE), Dubuque Symphony Orchestra (IA), Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra (IA), LaFosse Baroque Orchestra (IA), and countless pit orchestras.

In 2002, Modin was selected as a member of the National Wind Ensemble (NY) where she performed in Carnegie Hall.  She was also the winner of the Nebraska Music Teachers Association (NMTA) Collegiate Artist Woodwinds Competition in 2001.  Modin was a finalist in the Glenn Miller Scholarship Competition (IA) in 1999, and winner of the Lincoln (NE) Municipal Band John Shildneck Young Artist Competition in 1998.  

Modin is a member of the International Double Reed Society, Midwest Double Reed Society, American String Teachers Association, Music Educators National Conference, Kansas Music Educators Association, Pi Kappa Lambda national music honor society, Tri-M International Music Honor Society, and Golden Key International Honor Society.

In addition to being an Orchestra teacher in the Salina Public Schools, Modin is also director of the Salina Preparatory Youth Orchestra.  She maintains a full private oboe studio, and serves as Instructor of Oboe at the High Plains Band and Orchestra Camp in Hays, Kansas each summer.  Most recently, Modin was named the 2010 KASTA Young Teacher of the Year.

Modin and her husband, Ryan, live in Salina with their son, Marcus, a basset hound and a cat.
