Barrett-Jones Named Interim Associate Provost

Kathleen Barrett-Jones has been announced as the Interim Associate Provost at Kansas Wesleyan University. Barrett Jones, has been with the University since 1996, and retired from the role of Director of Teacher Education in 2012. She was past Chair of the Curriculum Committee, and was also responsible for establishing the partnership with Heusner Elementary school; helping elementary education students teach more effectively. She was also an integral part of Rec2Reality an organization that partners students with young adults with disabilities. Barrett-Jones was named to the position by Interim President, Dr. Wayne Lowen to assist him with academic administration. Barrett-Jones will have several responsibilities including faculty peer review, faculty committees, accreditation relations, articulation agreements, and faculty in-service.

Barrett-Jones said that her love for KWU and her desire to see the University continue to make progress was the reason for coming out of her brief retirement. Dr. Lowen has the utmost confidence in her leadership abilities.

“Her dedication to the University and her willingness to come out of retirement say so much about her and her commitment to KWU,” said Lowen. “She is a great leader on our campus and will continue to be so as she steps into this new role.”
