The Salina Symphony Guild will host a charitable run/walk Saturday morning, Oct. 20. Participants will "Move It with the Maestro" as far as they can during the time it takes to play a recording of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 (approx. 47 minutes).
The gathering point and start of the run/walk will be the KWU stadium/track. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., and the race will be kicked off by Maestro Ken Hakoda's downbeat at 8 a.m. Music will play through the speakers at the KWU track throughout the run/walk. Runners will have the choice to either run on the track or on a 5 kilometer course throughout the neighborhood surrounding KWU.
Participants will pay $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Runners/walkers are also encouraged to ask friends to sponsor them per kilometer. Prizes will be awarded to the person who raises the most money from sponsorships and to the person who runs the longest distance.
We hope you will consider joining us for this fun event that will benefit the Salina Symphony and Youth Symphony Program! To register, download the registration form at salinasymphony.org or stop by the Symphony Office, 151 S. Santa Fe. For more information, please call 785-823-8309.
