Kansas Wesleyan has partnered with the Marine Toy Box in an effort to help under-privileged area youth and ensure that everyone has a merry Christmas. Last year, the Toy Box program gave toys to over 1,100 children, and the need is growing. On Saturday, November 3, eleven student volunteers, in addition to staff and faculty members, collected contributions for Toy Box at the football and volleyball games. Over $900 was raised, and multiple donations of new toys were collected. Typically, the Marine Toy Box raises $9,000-$10,000 per year, and thus KWU has already made a tremendous contribution to the Salina community.
Our participation in this program did not end on Saturday. From now until Dec. 12, KWU will serve as a drop location for toys and cash donations, and our drop-off point is our post office. Please consider donating to this cause. Toys must be new, unwrapped, and appropriate for children 0-12. Cash donations are stored in a locked, sealed container. All contributions stay in our local community, and 100 percent of the proceeds go to area children. For more information about this important project, please contact Dr. Damon Kraft.
