Driven, punctual, compassionate are three words Senior Brittany Jeffery would use to describe herself. On Friday, May 10 at 7 p.m., Jeffery will perform her Senior Recital at KWU University United Methodist Church.
Jeffery has been preparing for her recital since November 2012 and it will feature a variety of selections from her repertoire.
“It starts with a Baroque cantata, by Vivaldi, it is for voice and continuo and will be accompanied by harpsichord and cello,” said Jeffery. Other pieces include: German songs by Schumann, a French aria by Gounod, French songs by Debussy and songs by American 20th century composer, William Bolcom.
“I would describe my recital as elegant with varied moods of love, joy, sorrow, and pain,” said Jeffery.
Jeffery will collaborate with accompanist Judy Weber.
“My accompanist Judy Weber and I have worked very hard and I appreciate each piece of music,” said Jeffery. “I am proud of what we have accomplished.”
Jeffery will miss the relationships she has built at the college. “Leaving a place that is familiar and comfortable is never easy,” said Jeffery.
Jeffery’s voice teacher, Leslie Mangrum has been the most influential person for her while at KWU.
“She has been there from the start of my entrance into classical music,” said Jeffery. “I give her credit for the growth I have made over the last three years.”
While a student at KWU, Jeffery has been involved in Choir, Chorale, and Orchestra, and plays several wind instruments and the piano. She also played the role as Dido in the 2012 opera, Dido and Aeneas.
