Veterans and military are invited to attend the KWU football game on Saturday, November 9, for Military Appreciation Day. Military will be honored throughout the game, including a Color Guard presentation by the Salina VFW and the coin toss done by Veterans Affair Representative Rebecca Sharpton, a KWU alumna who served in the Army from 2002-05.
Admission to the game is free for all military with ID and St. John’s Military School cadets. In addition, the game will serve as a donation point for the Marine Toy Box, an organization that ensures underprivileged youth have a merry Christmas. This year KWU will auction off a signed helmet and jersey, with all of the proceeds going towards the charity. Last year, more than 1000 Salina-area children were gifted through the program. New, unwrapped packages or cash donations are welcomed.
The Coyotes will take on Saint Mary that day; kickoff is at 1:30 p.m. at Salina Stadium with a $5 lunch and tailgate beginning at noon (weather permitting).
