New faculty & staff join KWU

Dr. Ruth Mirtz has recently been hired as the Director of Library Services at Kansas Wesleyan University. Mirtz comes to the KWU from the University of Mississippi, where she served as the reference librarian. Mirtz also has extensive experience with freshman seminar courses and has taught several college courses online, with teaching experience at Florida State University and Farris State University. Mirtz holds a Ph.D. in English and a Masters of Library Science, both from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. She will begin duties at KWU on March 1.
In addition, Neil Ward will join the KWU faculty as an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design. Most recently, Ward taught at Cloud County Community College and John Brown University in Arkansas. Ward holds a Masters of Fine Art from Nottingham Trent University and a Bachelor of Art in Computer art and Ceramics from the college of the Ozarks. Ward will join the faculty this fall.
“Neil’s strong background in graphic design and all visual arts will greatly strengthen our Art and Design department,” said Dr. Wayne Lowen, KWU Provost. “Both candidates will make great additions to the Kansas Wesleyan faculty and staff, and we look forward to their arrival on campus.”
