Kansas Wesleyan University has been named by the website Best Psychology Degrees (www.bestpsychologydegrees.com) among “30 Great Small Colleges for a Counseling Degree (Bachelor’s),” ranked Number 29 on their national list.
The KWU major that is being recognized by Best Psychology Degrees is Psychological Services, which requires a common core in Psychology, Human Services, and Counseling courses. This bachelor’s degree program then guides its majors toward acquiring career expertise with additional coursework in one of six human service areas: Addictions and Substance Abuse Counseling, Domestic Issues, Offender Management, Health and Wellness, Human Resources, and Educational Counseling.
“This is a special recognition for a program like ours at a small liberal arts institution,” said Gerald Gillespie, associate professor of Psychology/Addictions Counseling and chair of the Department of Behavioral Science & Human Services. “Our Psychological Services major provides foundations in psychology, mental health, and counseling-related coursework with several different specialization areas, including a state-licensed program for aspiring addiction counselors.”
