Opera at KWU
Each fall, Kansas Wesleyan University presents a fully staged student opera with orchestra. Past productions include Dido and Aeneas, Hansel and Gretel, The Marriage of Figaro, The Pirates of Penzance, Cavalleria Rusticana, The Magic Flute, and The Mikado. KWU has collaborated with the Salina Symphony and the Salina Community Theatre to bring these beautiful productions to life. The students have the opportunity to perform in grand facilities in downtown Salina. KWU students are also involved in the technical aspects of production such as set design and construction and stage management.
Opera Faculty includes Professor Ken Hakoda, conductor, Professor Leslie Mangrum, director and vocal coach, Professor Barbara Marshall, director, and Professor Richard Esvang, set design and construction
