For Episode I, concept designers were challenged with the daunting task of developing twelve characters that were at the same time alien and familiar. Concept Artist Iain McCaig noted that "George Lucas wanted to make sure that when the audience saw these characters for the first time, it would immediately register that these were Jedi." With that admonition in mind, the Episode I Art Department began the important work of creating figures that will become legendary in Star Wars lore. As you will see, the concept artists were careful to infuse familiar elements into the characters, although a few surprising influences crept in to the final designs.

In
a towering spire rising up from the Jedi Temple on Coruscant sits the Jedi
Council Chamber, a realm of mutual respect and haven of shared noble purpose.
Twelve members gather around the chamber floor in a semicircle, paying
close attention to galactic events. They also convene to test Jedi hopefuls
and make decisions that could impact all members of their illustrious order.
The Jedi Council stands as the most respected and powerful force for all
good. The twelve members of the Jedi High Council represent a gathering
of great minds who have proven themselves and their abilities in the service
of peace and justice. Confidant in their attunement to the Force, the Council
members work together in trust, free from the petty constraints of ego
and jealousy. Their Council Chamber is a place of open thought and speech,
a realm of mutual respect and a haven of shared noble purpose.

Adi
Gallia
Depa Billaba
Height: 1.68 or 1.75 meters
Species: Chalactan
Gender: Female
After her emigrating family was killed by pirates,
the six-month-old Depa Billaba was rescued by Mace Windu. He sensed her
strength and brought her to Coruscant for training.
Adopting the traditional culture of Chalacta to
honor her slain parents, Depa Billaba offers an ordered perspective to
the wide-ranging minds of the council. The two small golden dots on her
face are symbols of her parents’ world of Chalacta. They are called
Marks of Illumination. She is one of the most recent additions to the Jedi
Council. She sat on the Jedi Council during the battle of Naboo and the
Clone Wars. She is respected for her insights into the minds and personalities
of her peers.
Eeth
Koth
Height: sources disagree, but 1.71, 1.78, or 1.91
meters
Species: Zabrak
Homeworld: Nar Shaddaa (although his parents were
from Iridonia)
Weapon: Blue lightsaber
Koth was a humanoid male whose face was etched
with simple tattoos. A crown of vestigial horns sprouted from his skull.
Iridonian Zabrak such as Eeth Koth and Sith Lord Darth Maul are renowned
fir their mental discipline, which allows them to tolerate great physical
suffering. This ability is born of surviving their harsh enviroment. He
was born in the violent slums of Nar Shaddaa. Eeth was deemed too old to
begin Jedi training at age four, although he later proved himself worthy
after demonstrating determination and extreme mental discipline through
his natural skill in Zabrak thought control. Very little can distract him
from his job, and he is devoted to the Jedi Council. It is this devotion,
his strenght, will power, and mind control that made him a great candidate
for the position of Jedi Master. His long service and strength were an
example to others, and as such, the title of Jedi Master was conferred
upon him. Eeth Koth trained the Jedi hero Shared Hett, who later disappeared
to live among Tatooine's Tusken Raiders.
Even Piell
Height: 1.22 meters
Homeworld: Lannik
Standing little more than one meter tall, Jedi
Master Even Piell is nonetheless highly respected for his combat abilities.
Although he is typically contemplative and reserved, Piell becomes fiercely
aggressive when forced into combat.
During one conflict, Piell single-handedly battled
and defeated seven dangerous terrorists, even after sustaining a grisly
eye injury. Due to his developed code of honor, he refuses to wear a prosthetic
replacement for the lost eye, and bears the scar as badge of honor -- a
reminder that it was he who survived despite enormous odds, and as a grisly
trophy of a victory against terrorists who made the mistake of underestimating
the diminutive Jedi Master.
Atop the head of this curious creature can be
found what is known as the Jedi 'topknot.' Little is known about the origins
of this traditional decoration, although one can also be found on Piell's
fellow council member, Yaddle.
Ki-Adi-Mundi
Classification: Cerean
Gender: Male
Height: 1.98 Meters
Home World: Cerea
Status: Jedi Knight (Episode I), Jedi Master (Episode
II)
Weapon(s) of Choice: Purple Lightsaber
A Jedi Knight from the largely unspoiled paradise
world of Cerea, Ki-Adi-Mundi's high-domed head holds a complex binary brain.
Recently added to the Council, Ki-Adi-Mundi has not yet taken a padwan
learner. He is one of the only Knights to serve on the Jedi Council. His
binary brain allows him unique insight into the dark side of the Force.
Like all Cereans, he has two hearts.
At the age of four, Ki-Adi-Mundi began to learn
the ways of the Jedi. There were only a few children allowed in the Jedi
Temple beyond the age of about six months. A Jedi Master known as the "Dark
Woman" learned that Ki-Adi-Mundi could manipulate objects with his mind.
Arriving at Ki's homestead on Cerea, she asked for permission to take the
child to Coruscant, but Ki's father did not want to part with his only
son.
During the Dark Woman's visit, a band of raiders,
led by Bin-Garda-Zon, tortured Ki's family. The father hid Ki, fearing
that the bandit lord would kidnap his boy. However, while hidden, Ki witnessed
Bin-Garda-Zon strike his father. The terrifying scene burned in Ki's memory
for many years.
The Jedi Council choose Yoda, not the Dark Woman,
to train Ki-Adi-Mundi in the ways of the Force. After twenty-one years,
Ki-Adi-Mundi had earned the ranks of a Jedi Knight and returned to Cerea
to rid his home planet of the bandits. He sought out Bin-Garda-Zon's camp,
only to discover that a female warrior had taken charge over the bandits.
Bin-Garda-Zon was now a mere laborer who served slop to the raiders' oorgs.
Regardless, Ki faced the new leader, but he misjudged
his adversary and became a captive. He was able to escape by using the
Force and fought the new leader again. After the new leader's defeat, Bin-Garda-Zon
made a pathetic attempt to kill Ki-Adi-Mundi, hoping to reclaim his leadership
back. Ki conquered Bin but spared his life.
Over the next thirty years, Ki-Adi-Mundi built
a life for himself on his home planet while he served the Jedi Order faithfully.
Ki had two wives and a daughter. The short birthrate of his race allowed
him to receive a sole exclusion from the Jedi law that does not permit
marriage. At the age of sixty, he defended his home world from the Pro-Tech
Movement. Ki's daughter joined the radical movement; and as a result, a
criminal, named Ephant Mon, kidnapped her and fled to the desert world
of Tatooine. Ki was able to follow the kidnapper at Jabba the Hutt's palace,
where he rescued his daughter. The Jedi Knight also discovered that the
Trade Federation had purchased weapons to arm their starships.
After his escapade on Tatooine, he became a part
of the Jedi Council. During the Battle of Naboo, he was the only Jedi Knight
on the council. He took up his council seat following the death of Master
Micah Giieth. Ki had a previous seat on council meetings when other members
were away on missions. Ki was present when the council tested young
Anakin Skywalker; the Jedi Knight did not hesitate to state his own beliefs
about the boy, the danger of the Sith, and Qui-Gon Jinn's task.
Later sent by the Jedi Council, Ki-Adi-Mundi went
to Tatooine in search of a lost Jedi Master named Sharad Hett. He
found Hett living among the Tusken Raiders, but a bounty hunter, named
Aurra Sing, complicated his mission.
The same woman who discovered Ki happened to train
the bounty hunter; Aurra Sing now revels in destroying all the Jedi. Despite
his effort to protect Hett, Ki-Adi-Mundi could not stop the bounty hunter
from killing the Jedi Master.
When Hett died, Ki took a vow to train Hett's
son, A'Sharad, as his Padawan. Later he allowed the Dark Woman to take
over A’Sharad’s training. Ki was already a Jedi Master when the Battle
of Geonosis came to pass. He was one of the few Jedi that had survived.
Mace Windu
Height: 1.88 meters
Homeworld: Unknown
Senior member of the Jedi Council, Mace Windu's
wisdom and self-sacrifice is legendary. In a long and adventurous career,
he has repeatedly risked his life to resolve great conflicts in fairness
to both sides. Windu is sober and cool-minded but is also capable of dramatic
actions in the face of danger. Even experienced Jedi look to this great
man in times of serious trouble. Always ready to risk himself, Mace Windu
is reluctant to risk the lives of others. His fame has only added to his
negotiating skills. Windu has trained many apprentices, including Depa
Billaba, a fellow council member.
Mace Windu's prime expertise is weapons, particularly
the Lightsaber, the choice weapon for all Jedi Knights Although nowadays
he almost never picks up his purple-bladed lightsaber to face an enemy
in battle, Mace Windu remains a fearsome warrior with a perfect mastery
of the Jedi fighting techniques. (In Episode I, Mace carried a blue saber,
which had been loaned to him by Eeth Koth as part of a Concordance of Fealty
ritual). His knowledge and understanding of the Lightsaber is far beyond
average training, and he is the greatest Jedi when wielding a Lightsaber,
using hundreds, if not thousands, of different styles and fighting techniques
to defeat his enemies. No opponent can long withstand his attacks, as his
speed, swift, and Force-aided movements make him impossible to defeat.
Even other Jedi have great difficulty in anticipating his movements, or
even striking at him.
Mace's early assignments brought him fame.
He investigated the death of two Jedi on Yinchorr. He also went on
a diplomatic mission to Malastare. He forged a treaty between the
Red Iaro Terrorist and the Lannik people. He then investigated animal
trade on Nar Shaddaa, including Akk dogs from his home world.

Oppo
Rancisis
Height: 1.38 meters
As a baby, Oppo Rancisis was offered to the Jedi
Order by his mother, the Blood Monarch of Thisspias, and was apprenticed
to Jedi Master Yaddle. At age 20, he inherited the title as Monarch of
Thisspias when his younger sister was killed. Abdicating his throne on
Thisspias, Oppo Rancisis instead sought to serve the entire galaxy among
the Jedi order based on Coruscant. When negotiations fail, Rancisis ensures
that Jedi-counseled military tactics are cunning and effective. His stratagies
have helped the Jedi win many battles (Oppo Rancis served as a fleet cordinator
during the Stark Hyperspace Wars.). He was 147 at the time of the
Battle of Naboo, an incredibly ancient age for a Thisspiasian.
Rancisis is a master of Malacia, a Jedi technique
that induces a powerful dizziness and nausea in enemies. It is completely
incapacitating like a hammer blow, but does not cause any lasting physical
damage. He has taught the technique at the Jedi Temple for over two decades,
but only a few other Jedi have come close to mastering the difficult discipline.
Plo Koon
Species: Kel Dor
Home planet: Dorin
Height: 1.88 meters.
Plo was trained by the Jedi master Tyvoka, a wookie
Jedi. He is a courageous fighter descended from a long line of Jedi.
Plo Koon must protect his sensitive eyes and from the oxygen-rich atmosphere
of Coruscant with a special antitox mask and goggles. His talons are armored
in a traditional Kel Dor design in order to protect his sensitive fingertips
and allow him to focus and increase the range of his force powers.
Plo Koon masterfully uses his highly-developed
extrasensory organs to enhance his Jedi mind powers to extremes.
He is a master of the Jedi combat technique of projecting the Force at
an opponent and his hand-to-hand combat skills are legendary. He
manipulates molecules and employs his knowledge of science and physics
to cause startling changes in the environment. He can transform a
stream into an ice bridge, create a blanket of fog for camouflage, or raise
temperatures to cause opponents to faint. Unfortunately, excessive
use of his Force skills take their toll and leave him drained.
Koon was more martial a Jedi than most. Kel Dor
natives have a reputation for seeing moral issues in black and white, with
clear distinctions between right and wrong. As such, Koon often took decisive
action with little contemplation.
Plo Koon is legendary for his leadership in the
Stark Hyperspace Wars, during which he took up the Republic banner after
a great Jedi Master was killed. Koon rallied the disheartened troops to
an unlikely and miraculous victory, and has ever since been a trusted ally
to the Republic Army and Navy as a Jedi Council member.
Plo Koon has fought along side Qui-Gon Jinn on
several occasions, and looked forward to the day his friend might consider
filling one of the Council's short-term positions.
Saesee
Tiin
Classification: Iktotchi
Gender: Male
Height: 1.88 Meters
Home World: Iktotch
Status: Jedi Master
Weapon(s) of Choice: Dark Purple Lightsaber
Vehicle of Choice: Customized SoroSuub Cutlass-9
(Sharp Spiral)
An Iktotchi pilot who was born on his home world's
moon; Saesee Tiin builds the strength of his Force powers with the telepathic
ability of his race. His mind is always racing ahead to foresee possibilities,
giving him a unique perspective on the Council. Tiin has very coarse, thick
skin to protect him from the harmful high winds of his homeworld.
This skin allows him to sustain blast damage which would deeply harm a
human. Tiin is a powerfully built humanoid male, with large hands and two
down-sweeping horns surrounding his grim face.
He learned the ways of the Jedi through the great
Wol Cabbashite Jedi Master Omo Bouri, who planned the Treaty of Trammis.
He did not teach a padawan the Jedi way. Master Bouri had died a decade
prior to the Battle of Naboo, and his pupil gave his life to the Jedi.
Bouri instilled a strong sense of conviction in Tiin, honing the Iktochi's
skill and dedication to the order to the point that some would describe
Tiin as fanatical. After the death of Bouri, Tiin's devotion only increased. When
Master Bouri perished, Saesee Tiin reinvigorated his Jedi training - with
the hope that he might gain sufficient insight into the Force to communicate
on the spirit plane with his vanished master. The stern, contemplative
Jedi often kept to himself, and Tiin was never known to take a Padawan.
Tiin's loner tendencies caused some (Mace Windu) to privately question
his value to the Council since his contributions were minimal.
Despite such hushed criticism, Tiin was a formidable
warrior and an incredible pilot. Saesee Tiin is best able to focus while
traveling at high speeds at the controls of the finest spacecraft. The
Sharp Spiral was a special starfighter that belonged to him. A thankful
envoy from the planet of Coruscant gave it to him. Once, he completely
destroyed three battleships from the cockpit of this fighter. As an expert
pilot, Tiin worked as the formal link between the Jedi Council and Freedom’s
Sons. The Freedom’s Sons were a civilian group of non-Jedi who helped the
Knights on special projects. He was the test pilot for a newer model
of the Jedi starfighter. This improved version of the ship is one that
Obi-Wan used to travel from Coruscant to Kamino. Tiin also fought at the
Battle of Geonosis. He also frequently is asked to fly the Radiant
class Capital ships on dangerous Jedi missions
Yaddle
Height: 0.61 meters
Looking young at age 477, Jedi Master Yaddle is
of the same species as Yoda. She looks up to him even while leading the
council with compassion and balanced patience. Yaddle silently waits in
discussions before offering her single, powerful, soft-spoken comment.
She is highly regarded for her patience and wisdom.
Yaddle is head of the Librarian Assembly, and
worked alongside such revered Jedi scholars as Ashka Boda in maintaining
the exhaustive collection of Jedi and Sith documents, holocrons, and artifacts.
Her private quarters in the Jedi Temple are filled from floor to ceiling
with thousands of tiny trinkets. When not on Coruscant, Yaddle resided
at the Jedi training center at Kamparas, offering important lessons to
initiates in the order.
Yaddle has trained dozens of Padawan learners
in her life, including Jedi Master Oppo Rancisis. Yaddle's last known
Padawan was the vain and confident Empatojayos Brand, whom Yaddle successfully
trained to become a Jedi Knight.
Yaddle was most strongly affected by a prison
experience. Yaddle, and her Jedi Knight trainer Plovin Kut were trying
to liberate Koba from the Advozse warlock, Tulak. Plovin was killed
and Yaddle survived an intense interrogation. She was imprisoned
and forgotten, until released over a century later by an earthquake. Her
long incarceration was isolated, which allowed her to both relieve the
lessons of Plovin and achieve a special unity with the Force. After
her release she began to serve the local population as a teacher and healer,
helping them rebuild their society. However, Tulak’s son arrived
for his inheritance and fought with Yaddle, and she was able to avenger
Plovin’s death.
With centuries of training behind her, Yaddle
is skilled at all Jedi techniques. Exposure to obscure knowledge granted
her powers that few can fathom, including the forbidden Jedi art of mortichro,
a technique that rapidly slows the body functions of target beings, easily
resulting in death.
Yarael
Poof
Height: 2.64 meters
Homeworld: Quermia
Yarael Poof's appearance would be comical to most
if not for the powerful presence in the Force he exuded. Jedi Master
Yarael Poof is a sentient invertebrate being with a long neck and four
arms (which granted Yarael Poof remarkably dexterity). Like all members
of the Quermian species, his olfactory glands are located in his hands,
and a second brain is positioned in his chest. The Quermarian are related
to the Xextol of troiken. His long neck is for peering above vegetation
mats on his home world. Yarael Poof is the consummate master of Jedi mind
tricks. He could use the Force to quickly befuddle and mislead targets
by conjuring false images in their minds. In combat, Poof uses the Force
to conjure images of whatever most terrifies his opponents. He finds that
this tactic ends battle quickly and with very little violence. Poof is
legendary for his dynamic mental conjurings that have convinced the most
violent enemies to surrender.
He died tragically when trying to protect Coruscant
from the Annoo-Dat radical, General Ashaar Khorda, who with the aid of
Jango Fett and Zam Wesell, was trying to detonate the Infant of Shaa, a
Force-concentrated idol from Seylott. His funeral was attended by
the Council, representatives from Quermia, and Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and
his padawan, Anakin Skywalker.
Yoda
Height: 0.66 meter
Well into his 800s, Yoda is the oldest member
of the Jedi High Council, as well as its most deeply perceptive Master.
A great traveler in his younger years, Yoda has quietly visited hundreds
of worlds on his own, spending years learning different lifeways and appreciating
infinitely variable nuances of the Force. His experiences have made him
cautious and reflective.
Yoda started teaching young Jedi when he was in
his 700s on the Jedi training ship Chu'unthor. When the ship crashed on
the planet Dathomir, none of the Jedi could free it. Two of Yoda's
pupils were the king Empatojayos Brand, and Qu Rahn. Yoda was also the
conduit for the rebirth of the nearly-vanished Jedi Knights, accepting
Luke Skywalker as his last padawan.
By the time of the Battle of Naboo, Yoda was well
into his 800's, making him the oldest member of the Jedi Council. He has
visited hundreds of worlds on his own in his endeavor to understand and
appreciate the infinitely variable nuances of the Force. The venerable
Jedi Master is revered for his wisdom and insight, and prefers careful
contemplation to rash action.
Once, Yoda stopped a group of evil Jedi from the
planet Bpfassh. One Jedi got to Dagoba. The Jedi was killed by Yoda,
and his essence was absorbed into a tree, forming a dark side nexus.
Yoda might have picked Dagobah to hide on because his good and the tree’s
evil would block Yoda from Palpatine’s senses. To this day only two
people ever found out Yoda's hiding place. Luke Skywalker and Major
Arhul Hextrophon. The latter was sworn to secrecy, and never told a soul.
By the time Luke encounters him in the bogs of
Dagobah, Yoda is nearly 900 years old and walks stooped over with the help
of a gimer stick. He subsists on things that nature offers him, eating
plants and fruits and fungi, and building his home of mud, sticks and stones.
Yoda's path to Jedi wisdom seems simple, yet profound.
He makes his students unlearn what they had been taught, helping them to
tune in to the subtle world around them to learn its truths. "A Jedi uses
the Force for knowledge. Never for attack," he tells them. Yoda lectures
young Skywalker about the Force while Luke performs rigorous physical and
mental exercises. Yoda especially cautions him against the easy path of
anger and the lure of the dark side of the Force.
When ordered to undertake a particularly daunting
task, Luke says he'll try. "No! Try not," Yoda says. "Do. Or do not. There
is no try." Despite Yoda's plea, Luke leaves before his training is complete
when he senses that his friends are in danger. By the time Luke returns,
Yoda is close to becoming one with the Force.

Coleman
Trebor
Classification: Vurk
Gender: Male
Height: 2.13 Meters
Home World: Sembla
Status: Jedi Master
Weapon(s) of Choice: Green Lightsaber
Born on the aquatic world of Sembla, Jedi Master
Coleman Trebor is well known for his calm solution to almost any problem.
Trebor is a Vurk, an amphibious humanoid creature with a large shark-like
fin on its head, reminiscent of the resonating chamber horns of a hadrosaur.
Vurks are a nomadic, amphibious species generally considered primitiveby
the rest of the galaxy.
During the late days of the Jedi Order, the Jedi
Master served upon the Jedi Council. He was added to the council when former
council member Yarael Poof died. A negotiator more than a combatant, Trebor
was known to solve problems in a calm manner, although he did not hesitate
to ignite his special green eletcrum lightsaber when called upon by Jedi
Master Mace Windu during the Clone Wars. During the Battle of Geonosis,
Trebor bravely fought against the Separatist army along side his Jedi comrades.
Using the Force to find Count Dooku, the cause
of the battle, Coleman leaped on to Archduke Poggle the Lesser's special
balcony to try and destroy him. His plan backfired however, when bounty
hunter Jango Fett defended Count Dooku and shot the Vurk Jedi off the balcony.
Today, Coleman Trebor, Jedi Master, is archived
in the Jedi Temple Archives as being one of the bravest Jedi at Geonosis.
He is also known as one of the first Jedi to die in the Clone Wars.
Kit Fisto
Classification: Nautiloid
Gender: Male
Height: Unknown
Home World: Glee Anselm
Status: Jedi Master
Weapon(s) of Choice: Light Green Lightsaber
Fisto’s view on life was laid-back and accepting.
He believed it was his Jedi mission to use his gifts for the betterment
of the people of the galaxy. He can read the emotions of other beings with
his acute sense of smell. Before the Battle of Naboo, Kit Fisto took up
a Padawan after her prior Master became one with the Force.
Luminara
Unduli
Classification: Mirialan
Gender: Female
Height: 1.59 meters
Home World: Mirial
Status: Jedi Master, advisor to Jedi Council
Weapon(s) of Choice: Green Lightsaber
Luminara devoted her life to justice. She earned
the rank of Jedi Master more than a decade before the Battle of Geonosis.
Luminara Unduli's eyes were oblique and widely
spaced, with large blue irises that seemed to favour her upper lids. Her
nose was broad and flat, and her skin was the colour of fruitwood. Her
face was triangular in shape and the lower portion was tattooed in small
diamond shapes that formed a vertical stripe from her lush, blue-black
lower lip to the tip of her round chin. The backs of her hands also bore
tattoos, atop each knuckle joint.
Due to a lot of years of practice, she has enhanced
the flexibility of her joints. With this, she can make great lightsaber
moves that are hard for normal humanoids. Her padawan is a human named
Barriss Offee who entered the Jedi Order as an infant.
Luminara shared a homeworld in common with notorious
pirate Arwen Cohl, and served as a valuable source of advice when the Jedi
Council needed to deal with Cohl's criminal activities.
Shaak Ti
Classification: Togruta
Gender: Female
Height: Unknown
Home World: Shili
Status: Jedi Master
Weapon(s) of Choice: Light Blue Lightsaber
Unlike most of her species, Shaak Ti chose a single
life as a Jedi, but she still felt lonely despite the Force training she
used to keep her emotions in check. She has the innate ability to sense
others in close proximity to her; this has served her well in combat situations.
Shaak Ti trained only two Padawans in her career. They both fell victim
to criminal killers shortly after their graduations to Knighthood.
Pablo-Jill
Species: Ongree
Gender: Male
Height: 1.6 meters
Pablo-Jill was an alien Jedi Knight during the
time of the Clone Wars. His eyes are on stalks low on either side of his
head, and he has remarkable agility, despite the cumbersome hump on his
back, because of his multi-jointed legs and bowlegged fighting stance.
Stationed at the Jedi Temple, he was one of the heroic protectors sent
to Geonosis on a rescue mission to save Obi-Wan Kenobi from a growing Separatist
force.
An Ongree Jedi Knight from the Skustell Cluster,
Pablo-Jill was famous for his part in bringing a temporary peace to the
lawless world of Ord Mantell. Though the Jedi Council encouraged him to
take a Padawan, he never began training a student before the start of the
Clone Wars.
Quinlan Vos
Homeworld: Kiffex
Species: Kiffar
Gender: Male
Height: 1.77 meters
Weapon: Lightsaber
Vehicle: Nebulon Ranger
Affiliation: Jedi
First Appearance: Twilight
It's for good reason that the Jedi Code dictates
that initiates into the Order are brought in during infancy. The tenets
of the Jedi are repeatedly reinforced during a Padawan's training, to diminish
any possibility of transgression into the dark side's seductive grasp.
But what happens when a Jedi loses his memory?
Thus was the saga of Quinlan Vos, a young Kiffar
from Clan Vos discovered by Jedi Ki-Adi-Mundi. The tightly knit clans of
Kiffex allowed Vos to leave for Coruscant, to undergo Jedi training. They
wished greatness for Vos, though privately wished for him to hold Kiffex
first in his heart, and the Jedi second.
Quin returned as often to Kiffex as his Jedi duties
allowed. Some Jedi frowned upon such sentimentality; they emphasized detachment
from personal pasts in favor of devotion to the Force. After achieving
Knighthood, Vos took a Padawan, a young Twi'lek girl named Aayla Secura.
A skilled Jedi, Quin excelled in psychometric
talents. He could glean emotional imprints off of physical objects, determining
their recent past. This aided Vos on the investigative duties the Council
often assigned him.
Quin was drugged and robbed of his memory while
investigating a glitteryll smuggling racket on Nar Shaddaa. Left only with
fragments of his past, Vos still had the power of the Force under his command,
but none of the discipline. After that event, he skirted dangerously close
to the dark side.
Though his memories were eventually recovered,
Vos was continually haunted by the dark side. His missions often tugged
him to the galaxy's fringe, and on several occasions he found himself paired
with the unscrupulous Devaronian grifter Vilmarh Grahrk. Despite slippery
loyalties, Villie proved a helpful ally to Vos on numerous occasions.
Aayla
Secura
Designation: Jedi Padawan
Species: Twi'lek
Gender: Female
Padawan to Quinlan Vos
Madame
Jocasta Nu
Homeworld: Unknown
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Height: 1.60 meters
Weapon: Lightsaber
Affiliation: Jedi Order
First Appearance: Attack of the Clones, or, in
print, the Jedi Apprentice series
A vast repository of information rested within
the polished halls of the Jedi Archives. Serving as caretaker of this lore
was Madame Jocasta Nu, the Jedi archivist. While her appearance was one
of a frail, elderly woman, she possessed a sprightly demeanour and an abrupt
temperament.
Jocasta Nu served as Archives Director for over
30 years, attending the position after a decade-long term on the Jedi Council.
Her patterned robes bear the symbols of the Ansata, indicating devotion
to knowledge and learning. Though not a frontline warrior, Jocasta still
wore her lightsaber as testament to her younger days of field service.
In addition to serving as custodian of the records, she would prepare mission
briefs for Jedi taskforces and Knights on assignment.
During Obi-Wan Kenobi's search for Senator Padmé
Amidala's assassin, Jocasta Nu shared information about Count Dooku, a
former Jedi much admired in the order. She was mystified, however, by Kenobi's
search for the planet Kamino. As the world did not appear in the Archive
records, Nu instantly concluded that the planet did not exist. So reliant
was she on the Jedi Archive's data, she neglected to consider that perhaps
the information could have been tampered with. This was but one example
of Jedi complacency getting in the way of their service.
