For Freshmen

Freshman applicants include:


  • Those students who have never attended college previously.
  • Students transferring fewer than 15 credit hours from other colleges or universities.
  • High school seniors who took college courses during high school or the summer immediately following high school graduation.

Requirements for Regular Admission (Full and Part-Time Degree- Seeking):


  • Applicants must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, a GED score of at least 55, or rank in the upper 50% of their senior class
  • Applicants must have either an Enhanced ACT composite score of 18, or a Recentered SAT score of 860.

The deadlines for consideration of Fall and Spring provisional applications are August 1 and January 1 respectively. No more than 15% or a maximum of 30 new applicants each year will be granted provisional status. Applicants who do not fulfill requirements for regular admission may be considered for provisional admission by the Enrollment Committee. Application files will be reviewed by the Enrollment Committee based on the order of completion of the requirements for provisional acceptance.

To be considered for Provisional Admission, applicants must meet the following requirements

 

  •  A completed application for admission along with the non-refundable $20 application fee.
  • Applicant must reside in Kansas.
  • A minimum high school grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale, or a minimum GED average score of 500.
  • A minimum ACT composite score of 15; a minimum SAT score of 700  (critical reading and mathematics scores combined).
  •  A letter of appeal to the Director of Admissions, which should provide general information about the applicant and any pertinent details which will assist in making a decision.

Applicants who do not meet these minimal standards will not be accepted to the University.

Provisional students must receive a minimum grade point average of at least 1.5 at the conclusion of the first semester of academic work. Failure to do so will result in academic dismissal.
