Transfer applicants include:
Full or part-time degree-seeking students who have taken 24 or more transferable college credit hours since high school graduation or completion of the GED.
Requirements for Regular Admission:
Kansas Residents
- A completed application for admission along with the non-refundable $20 application fee.
- Applicants must have earned a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale for 24 or more transferable graded credit hours. Applicants must also be maintaining pace toward graduation by demonstrating a ration of earned transferable credit hours to attempted total credit hours of 66% or greater. Applicants without a prior bachelor’s degree must not have attempted more than 189 credit hours.
- Applicants must submit an official transcript from each college attended demonstrating they have left the institution “in good standing.”
- Applicants must be a high school graduate or have a GED.
Out of State Residents
- A completed application for admission along with the non-refundable $20 application fee.
- Applicants must have earned a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for 24 or more transferring graded credit hours. Applicants must also be maintaining pace toward graduation by demonstrating a ration of earned transferable credit hours to attempted total credit hours of 66% or greater. Applicants without a prior bachelor’s degree must not have attempted more than 189 credit hours.
- Applicants must be a high school graduate or have a GED.
- Students with a minimum GPA of 2.0 to 2.499 may apply for probationary admission by providing a letter of appeal and two letters of recommendation (one from an instructor), which should provide general information about the applicant and any pertinent details which will assist in making a decision. The Enrollment Committee will consider all probationary applicants for admission.
Transfer applicants from regionally accredited institutions of higher education may be considered for admission based on their previous college academic records. All candidates must submit a final official transcript of all previous work taken. *The Registrars Office compiles official equivalencies for any course not taken at KWU. All final evaluations of transcripts are completed by the Registrars Office.
Please note: Grades earned on the quarter-term system do not transfer at the full credit listed on the transcript. Quarter-term hours compute at two-thirds of KWU credit hours; e.g., 4 quarter-term hours will equal 2.67 semester hours. The Registrars Office compiles official equivalencies for any course not taken at KWU. All final evaluations of transcripts are completed by the Registrars Office.
Any course identified as remedial is not transferable. Any course identified as a workshop, seminar, practicum, field experience, work experience, continuing education, or weekend-type course work will be carefully evaluated by the Registrar to determine transferability.
At least 63 of the 126 credit hours required for the Baccalaureate degree must be earned at a four-year institution. A maximum of 63 credit hours will be transferred from two-year institutions.
