Kansas Wesleyan University’s Athletic
Training Education Program has received national accreditation.
The university recently received notification
that the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education
Programs (CAAHEP) has accredited the Kansas Wesleyan program
through July of 2009.
“We are very pleased to hear of the
Commission’s decision, as it is an important validation
of the quality of our Athletic Training Education Program.
It informs all interested parties that graduates from Kansas
Wesleyan’s program have finished an academic program
that meets all of the national standards for athletic training,”
said President Philip P. Kerstetter.
The accreditation standards were established
by CAAHEP and The American Academy of Family Physicians, The
American Academy of Pediatrics, The American Orthopaedic Society
for Sports Medicine, and The National Athletic Trainers’
Association, Inc.
Kansas Wesleyan’s Athletic Training
Education Program is a rigorous program that prepares graduates
to enter a variety of employment settings to render care to
a wide spectrum of individuals engaged in physical activity.
The technical standards set forth by the Athletic Training
Education Program establish the essential qualities considered
necessary for students admitted to this program to achieve
the knowledge, skills, and competencies of an entry-level
athletic trainer.
