McAdams Student Center at Kansas Wesleyan
University will be the site of an American Red Cross blood
drive Friday (October 8).
The drive is scheduled for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. While
appointments are being scheduled, walk-ins from the community
are welcome. The blood drive is sponsored by the American
Red Cross, the KWU Office of Student Life, the KWU Student
Nurses Organization, the KWU HPER Club, and the Student Leadership
Organization.
Did you know that:
Because the American Red Cross can break down
each blood donation into three separate component, (platelets,
plasma, and red cells) one blood donation can save the lives
of three different patients.
You can safely give blood every 56 days.
Most medications are not cause for deferral. Donors must be
at least 17 years of age, weigh 110 pounds or more, and be
in general good health. There is no upper age limit as long
as a donor meets all eligible requirements.
The whole appointment takes about an hour,
with the actual donation lasting only about seven minutes.
