Forensics and Debate Team
sweeps Oklahoma competition

Kansas Wesleyan University’s
Forensics and Debate Team scored 60 points to win the sweepstakes
trophy in competition at Tulsa Community College in Tulsa,
Oklahoma, October 29-30. The competing team closest to KWU
scored 30 points.
This is the first year for the
Kansas Wesleyan Forensics and Debate Team.
The KWU team competed against
teams from Southwestern College, Oklahoma State University,
the University of Oklahoma, Oral Roberts University, Northeastern
State University, Rogers State University, and several community
colleges.
Individual honors received by
Kansas Wesleyan team members include:
Megan Hagaman,
Abilene, placed second in Children’s Literature, third
in Parliamentary Debate, third in Impromptu Speaking, and
fifth in After Dinner Speaking.
Amanda Ingram,
Salina, placed third in Children’s Literature and third
in After Dinner Speaking.
Austin Little,
Salina, placed second in Legislative Debate.
Rodney Wren,
Moundridge, placed first in Poetry, first in Persuasive Speaking,
first in Legislative Debate, and third in Prose.
Allie Denning,
Ellsworth, placed second in Dramatic Duo, third in Poetry,
and sixth in Children’s Literature.
Steve Sommerville,
Mahaska, placed second in Dramatic Duo, fourth in Dramatic
Interpretation, and fifth in Children’s Literature.
Eric Arganbright,
Kansas City, placed third in Parliamentary Debate and fourth
in After Dinner Speaking.
Additionally, Rachel
Cross, Independence, Missouri, placed in competitions
in Mankato, Minnesota, and Springfield, Missouri, earlier
in the semester.
