About KWU Esports
We strive to provide a home for the student that might not otherwise be engaged in on-campus activities. This allows gamers to find meaningful involvement while making friends, building relationships and competing on a collegiate level. KWU esports is currently seeking gamers for League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League and Smash Bros!
KWU gamers have the privilege of practicing in their very own arena. Peters Science Hall, Room 238 is home to our state of the art PCs and gaming equipment.
KWU esports was founded in 2015, and has grown rapidly. The team currently competes in the Collegiate Star League, earning a 7-2 record during the first spring of competition.
Currently, KWU esports primarily competes in “League of Legends,” but some of KWU team members also play Hearthstone and Rocket League. Kansas Wesleyan University is accepted as an official League of Legends team by Riot Games, maker of the game. As the esports program continues to gain popularity, more competitions will be added to the schedule. The team is now seeking Smash Bros gamers.
Schedule: KWU esports practices 4 times per week, with competitions on weekends. Practices typically last about two hours. The gaming arena is exclusively used by the esports team, so players have access to the gaming amenities between practices.
The new Kansas Wesleyan University esports team has the endorsement and encouragement of President and CEO Matt Thompson, Ph.D.
