Presentation Guidelines

** All presentations MUST adhere to APA ethical guidelines. Click to review the APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct (Section 8). **

Oral Presentations

Oral presentations are limited to 15 minutes: 12 minutes to present your material and 3 minutes to take questions.

Each room will have a digital projector/TV and computer (PC).  Personal devices can also be connected to the projection system via HDMI.  It is recommended that you save your presentation on at least two different media (e.g., cloud and jump/thumb drive).  It is also a good idea to e-mail yourself a copy of your PowerPoint in case your electronic copy becomes corrupted. If you’d like to have your presentation preloaded for you on the computer in your room, email your presentation (with your First/Last Name and PERK24 in the file title) to [email protected] by November 10.

A moderator will be available to help you get set up for your presentation, to introduce you, and to monitor your time.  Practice your presentation so that you will not get cut off abruptly before you have a chance to finish making your main points.

Please arrive several minutes in advance to the room before the session starts, even if you are not the first presenter.  This will allow for a smoother transition between speakers and give you a chance to get your presentation loaded on the computer, check in with the moderator, and to relax before you present.  It is proper conference etiquette for presenters to come and stay for the full session to support the other presenters in the session.

Presentation Guidelines

** All presentations MUST adhere to APA ethical guidelines. Click to review the APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct (Section 8). **

Poster Presentations

Posters will be mounted on free-standing poster display boards. Poster boards (4′ X 6′) are provided. Please bring your own push pins (we’ll have extra if you forget).

Please try to arrive during the 15-minutes before your poster session is to begin so that you can put up your poster. Take your poster down immediately after the end of your poster session so that the next group of presenters have time to put up their posters. Be prepared to answer questions about your poster and to offer a brief “walk through” explaining the essence of your research in 1-2 minutes. Handouts are encouraged.

Your poster should communicate the main points of your research. Remember that this is a visual medium, so use large, easily readable text and graphics. A rule of thumb is to make your poster legible from 3 feet away. Do NOT simply print out a paper.
