Kansas Wesleyan students are not limited to learning on and near campus. Just ask Brandon Olson, an Emergency Management and Criminal Justice double major that recently completed a semester long internship with Chwat Group (located just outside of Washington D.C.) through KWU’s partnership with The Washington Center. He was a research assistant for the firm, and also assisted in drafting bills and other legislation. The relationships Olson was able to develop during his time in D.C. made the experience all the more worthwhile. “I was able to gain valuable contacts within a variety of organizations related to my career aspirations. For example, one of the best experiences was interviewing a legislative policy analyst for the Council of State Governments. He provided me with valuable contacts that can potentially accelerate my career within the Department of Homeland Security.”
Olson is back on campus to finish his degree requirements. He expects to graduate from KWU in December of 2017.
