Student Life Facilities
Bieber Dining Hall
Completed in 2025, the renovated Bieber Dining Hall includes two tiers with seating and an updated kitchen. The facility houses the Shriwise Café and is open daily.
Student Activities Center
KWU’s Student Activities Center houses Mabee Arena, Muir Gymnasium, Hauptli Student Center and Everett Morgan Strength Training Center. The facility features a concession stand, gathering areas, coaches’ offices, athletic training rooms, revamped locker rooms, classrooms and other amenities.
Arts and Activity Facilities
Applequist Family Music Center
Unveiled in Fall 2024, the Applequist Family Music Center offers numerous practice rooms with improved soundproofing, increased percussion space, additional classrooms and a lounge area for students to gather.
Bieber Hall
Opened in 2024, Bieber Hall includes the KWU Music Hall of Fame and a separate entrance to Sams Chapel, perfect for concerts and other events. A sitting area provides a great spot to socialize before hearing the latest from KWU Music.
DECA Practice Facility
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in colleges around the globe. KWU students participate in annual competitions, often earning top honors at the state and international level.
Fitzpatrick Auditorium
Fitzpatrick Auditorium was renovated in 2012. The auditorium seats 164 and is used for theatre productions, talkbacks, forums and more.
The Gallery
Located in Sams Hall of Fine Arts, The Gallery features the work of local and regional artists as well as artwork produced by KWU students. The Gallery also hosts receptions for exhibiting artists, giving the campus and Salina community an opportunity to meet the artists.
Sams Chapel
Sams Chapel, named in honor of Earl C. Sams, former president of J.C. Penney, is the home for all Band, Choir and Orchestra concerts, as well as Band and Orchestra rehearsals. Student recitals, campus-wide student events, presentations and award ceremonies also take place in Sams Chapel.
Academic Facilities
Nursing Education Center
The Kansas Wesleyan University Nursing Education Center opened for classes Jan. 12, 2021 and was formally dedicated in a virtual ceremony Feb. 19 of that year. The building — KWU’s first new, on-campus facility dedicated entirely to academics in more than 50 years — was the culmination of a true community effort. Salina Regional Health Center and its foundation provided the initial impetus for the project by gifting both the building itself and a financial element.
Albert Nelson Student Success Center
Located on the first floor of Memorial Library, the Albert Nelson Student Success Center is a place where students can find tutors, access university computers and connect with student success coaches and peers through activities and projects.
Bieber Biology Lab
The Martha (Wessling) Bieber Biology Lab is central to the coursework and hands-on experience for those in scientific disciplines such as biology, biomedicine, genetics, ecospheric studies and community resilience and nursing, as well as those rounding out their liberal arts education.
Creager Physics Lab
The recently remodeled Dr. Charles B. Creager Physics Lab provides a space for KWU Mathematics, Data Science and Physics students to hone their crafts.
Pollak Chemistry Lab
Renovated in 2019, the David P. Pollak Chemistry Lab serves as a hands-on learning center for KWU’s chemistry students. Funds were donated by Barbara (Pollak) Hauptli ‘54. The facility was named in memory of her beloved father, who was a chemist for the Salina Board of Trade beginning in 1948.
Stucky Optics Lab
The recently remodeled N. Paul Stucky Optics Lab helps provide space for KWU Mathematics, Data Science and Physics students to hone their crafts.
Emergency Operations Center
Kansas Wesleyan offers a full Emergency Operations Center where students can gain hands-on experience in the skills needed to enter the field. The KWU EOC also serves as a backup for Saline County Emergency Management.
Jack Wilson Forensic CSI Lab
Located on the first floor of Peters Science Hall, the Jack Wilson Forensic CSI Lab provides a safe space to practice techniques of processing evidence.
Jack Wilson Learning Center
Located on the first floor of Peters Science Hall, the Jack Wilson Criminal Justice Experiential Learning Center provides a safe space to practice real-life de-escalation and decision-making tactics. The facility features an elite simulator designed to emulate situations that law enforcement officials could encounter in the field.

Memorial Library
Memorial Library — so named for the Saline County residents who died during World War II — is the longtime home of KWU’s library services. It underwent a significant renovation in 2021 (first floor) and 2023 (second floor) to provide a better space for students to study.
Misc. Spaces
Hale Garden
A small plot of green space located near Bieber Dining Hall. This area is currently under development.
Norton Seminar Room
The Norton Seminar Room honors the late Helen Norton and serves as a meeting space on campus that can accommodate larger groups. Screens and whiteboards make this room ideal for brainstorming and sharing presentations.
Vanier Lobby
The Vanier Lobby in Peters Science Hall honors longtime KWU supporter and Salina legend the late John “J.J” Vanier, prominent businessman, rancher and legendary regional philanthropist. Vanier’s family continues to support KWU to this day, and a plaque is installed in the lobby honoring his life.
KWU Athletics
KWU Athletics Facilities
Gene Bissell Field at JRI Hospitality Stadium of the Graves Family Sports Complex opened in October 2015, replacing Glenn L. Martin Stadium as the home of Kansas Wesleyan football, soccer, flag football and track and field.
