Kansas Wesleyan University has announced the 2019-20 schedule for its Skywatch program.

The eight-event schedule begins Sept. 13 in Room 501 of the Peters Science Hall with an observatory open house, in which the public will be able to come and go as desired and participate in open viewing through the university’s Cassegrain telescope.

There will then be six programs during the academic year, each on the second Friday of the month from October through March. Topics will include eclipses, astrochemistry and others. The schedule concludes with a “Star Party” at Mushroom Rock State Park on April 10, when Salina Astronomy Club members will provide telescopes to aid in viewing.

All Skywatch events begin at 7:30 p.m. In addition, the KWU Observatory in Peters 501 will also be open for public viewing on the third Friday of the month through April, weather permitting.

A full slate of 2019-20 Skywatch programs is available at the link below. For more information, please contact Dr. Dorothy Hanna at [email protected].
