Senior Dakota Yates’ qualitative research paper was selected by the Southern States Communication Association for publication and presentation at their annual convention April 6 and 7 in Nashville, TN. The paper, titled “Political Memes and Cultural Division: How the Usage of Metaphor Shapes the Political Other,” addresses how memes, during the 2016 election, reflect the growing divide between people and political groups in the U.S. The paper was a part of Yates’ capstone class in Communications.
