Albert Nelson Student Success Center
Due to Gov. Kelly's stay-at-home order of March 28, both Memorial Library and the Student Success Center are closed to on-ground services. The library has many virtual services available, however, and in addition to your instructor’s office hours, KWU now has some new ways to get academic assistance:
1) You can send a 144-character text message to 785-302-9275
2) You can send an email to StudentSuccess@kwu.libanswers.com
For both of those, someone will get back to you as soon as possible (typically 8am-9pm Monday-Thursday, 8am-4pm Friday, and 5pm-9pm Sunday). Your questions can be about any course (e.g., Managerial Accounting), not just the ones listed below. You can ask for help with paper reviews/feedback for English or any other discipline. You can even ask questions about study skills, time management, or test-taking strategies.
3) If you are in any of the following courses, you will be invited to the Student Success Canvas page where we will have multiple 40-minute Zoom study/tutor sessions scheduled each week that you can join online. (Session hosts are shown in parentheses.)
a. A&P II (Mike Famiglietti and Anna Williams)
b. Calculus II (Mike Bell)
c. College Algebra (Mike Bell regardless of which section you’re in)
d. Concepts in Chemistry (Jacob Lovell)
e. General Biology-Majors (Noah Eichelberger)
f. General Biology-Non-Majors (Noah Eichelberger)
g. General Chemistry (Jacob Lovell)
h. Intermediate Algebra (Mike Bell)
i. Microeconomics (Brylee New)
j. Pathway to Wellness (Nolan Jones)
k. Precalculus (Mike Bell)
l. Principles of Marketing (Brylee New and Abby Bacon)
Once you have accepted the invitation to the Canvas page, you can navigate to the appropriate course module, open the “Join…” assignment, see the days and times for the study/tutor sessions, and click on the link to join a Zoom session once it has been opened by the session host. You do not have to pay anything or have your own Zoom ID to join a session hosted by someone else.
If you are in these classes, you can also ask the host to schedule an appointment by sending an email to the host through the @KWU.edu system.
Get online resources for your academic success!
Kansas Wesleyan’s Student Success Center is located on the first floor of the Memorial Library. The mission of the center is to provide tutoring and other assistance to students to enable them to successfully complete their courses and improve their learning skills, particularly in English/writing skills and math. In addition, the center offers study skills, testing, handouts and Internet resources.
The Success Center will benefit any student who wishes to improve their grades, who needs clarification on information they may have missed in class, who has trouble studying or who gets easily distracted from their academics. Services are provided at no cost to each KWU student and are provided on either a walk-in basis or by appointment. The atmosphere is friendly, studious and relaxed.
