The Health Teacher minor prepares students to promote health education and wellness in school settings. Coursework emphasizes health concepts, instructional methods, and effective communication strategies for future educators. This minor is designed for students seeking teacher certification and must be completed in conjunction with the Liberal Studies requirements, Education requirements, and certification in content area.

Course Requirements

Complete all of the following:

  • BIOL 221: Human Anatomy & Physiology I
  • BIOL 222: Human Anatomy & Physiology II
  • SPES 120: Personal, Community, and Global Health
  • SPES 150: Foundations of Sport & Exercise Science
  • SPES 175: Principles of Nutrition
  • SPES 420: Mthds for Teaching Health & Physical Ed.

Complete one course from the following:

  • BSHS 232: Human Sexuality
  • PSYC 215: Health Psychology
