As an Exercise Science major, you will learn how to develop your own physical skills and help others on the path to lifelong wellness.

Exercise science students study a variety of scientific disciplines in addition to the study the science of human movement or kinesiology. You will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working in clinical and corporate settings throughout Salina.

Program Goals

Students who complete a Bachelor of Arts in Sport and Exercise Science will be able to:

  • Demonstrate comprehension and functional knowledge in the content areas of health and exercise sciences, physical education, or sport management.
  • Apply knowledge of effective verbal, nonverbal, and media communication techniques to enhance learning and engagement in the area of Sport and Exercise Science.
  • Demonstrate reflection and critical thinking in order to refine professional practice in their chosen field.
  • Demonstrate professional behaviors including commitment to excellence, valuing diversity and collaboration, and service to others.

Personal Training

Personal Training professionals are responsible for the training and development of athletes, sport teams, and individuals just wanting to get back in to shape or wanting to target specific training goals

Are You Ready To Develop and Design Strength and Conditioning Programs?

  • Use a good knowledge base of physiology, nutrition, physical training and corrective techniques to help individuals and teams improve overall fitness
  • Motivate individuals to reach fitness goals
  • Plan and oversee training sessions
  • Instruct groups or individuals in the basics of fitness and sport
  • Demonstrate proper training techniques

A flexible, resourceful individual who is passionate about fitness and nutrition. Excellent communication and motivation skills are needed as well as leadership qualities and sincere care for the fitness goals of others.

Fitness and Wellness

Students in the Fitness and Wellness Concentration learn the importance of diet and exercise within the work place. Students will learn the skills to empower people to live a healthy lifestyle.
